**Lesson Procedure:**
1. **Introduction (10 minutes):**

- **National Events:** Events that occur across the country and have broader significance (e.g., Presidential elections, national holidays like Independence Day).
2. **Activity 1: Brainstorming (15 minutes):**
- Divide students into small groups and give each group a large piece of chart paper and markers.
- Ask them to brainstorm and list events they know of, categorizing them as either local or national events.
- Groups share their ideas with the class and the teacher writes these on the whiteboard, creating two columns (Local and National).
3. **Activity 2: Picture Sorting (15 minutes):**
- Provide students with a worksheet that has mixed pictures of local and national events.
- Students cut out the pictures and sort them into two categories: Local and National.
- They then glue the pictures on a provided chart, labeling each section appropriately.

- Show students a few pictures of local and national events using a projector or printed images.
- Discuss why these events are important and how they impact the students’ lives and their community.
